The Jubilance of Frederick Douglass Through His Diction
On page 43 of Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, afterward his weightlift with Mr. Covey Douglass describes his peeled lay out hope of freedom along with his new found confidence in which he feels he can neer be stopped from obtaining his freedom. The two mens fight causes fear to be stricken into Mr. Coveys heart, although it brought nought but happiness to Douglass. Douglass revolted against his prevail and even made him expel; something most strivers would nominate been punished for and most would even have their lives ultimately ruined due to this, but not Douglass. Douglass walks out from this fight with his head held high and a new prospect on his life. He will no longer be subjected to the torture which is slavery; Douglass had resolved that
however long I might remain a slave in bod; the day had passed forever when I could be a slave in fact. Douglass thus declared his freedom with or without his accomplishs say and would continue his life as swaggering as he felt walking away from his fight.
Douglasss language shows just how jubilant he felt after the fight had happened.
When Douglass turns the burden which he was born with which is slavery into a career it becomes extremely clear that he created a parable to completely destroy the word slave which all the southern white men use so proudly. By verbalise slavery is his career it shows that he can get up and leave when he pleases, reducing its once crucial centre to him, showing how he plans to live his life in jubilance. Douglass states in this paragraph the white man who expected to succeed in whipping, must also succeed in killing me.
