These aims include glory in struggle with France, to reclaim lost territory, to be a popular king and to secure succession of the fundament to carry on the Tudor dynasty. Henrys underlining aim was to achieve everlasting glory.
In his first aim, which was to gain land in war with France, he was successful, but not to the extent he wanted.



He was triumphant in meshings such as the Battle of the Spurs, emulating his forefather Henry V who was successful in a battle with France one hundered years earlier. Henry VIIIs attempts were also overall victorious as he secured an alliance with Spain, the Holy Roman pudding stone and the Pope forming The Holy League against France.
