Moby Dick

Call me pariah. Moby-Dick commences with the epigrammatic powerful sentence, beginning the racial al-Qaeda observed throughout the books entirety. After rereading the first couple of chapters, I be myself arriving at the same suggestion that Bernard proposed, I was assuming that Ishmael was white, but not because Melville himself is, I arrived at my assumption from confused passages. In chapter two Ishmael mistakenly goes into an African American church, believing it to be an inn, where the sermon the b inadequacyness of darkness is winning place. Ishmael leaves the church in embarrassment, leading me to believe that he is not African American due to this reaction.



When Ishmael meets Queequeg he has a very disturbing reaction, he can simply believe the man he is seeing is not a white man who had a terrible accident. He shows two signs of being ready to think differently about race a man can be honest in any sort of skin and signs that he is still prejudiced, such as describing Queequegs appearance as unearthly. Ishmaels ignorance about racial difference pooled with his obvious lack of friendship about additional cultures further confirmed my old estimate about his race.
