psychological science: Discuss, Defend & Explain
Psychology is defined as the scientific study of human air and mental processes. Psychology contains some different ideas such as, Functionalism, which focuses on the purpose of behavior and mental experiences. Then you have structuralism, which focuses on studying the prefatory structures of conscience experiences. Also, you have psychoanalysis, which focuses on the role of unconscious conflicts in determining behavior and personality. Lastly, you have behaviorism, which focuses on studying overt, or observable, human behaviors. Psychology has many different views and can be studied in many different ways.
The idea of psychological science has been around for hundreds of years, but it wasnt till the mid 1800s that a German psychologist named Wilhelm Wundt laid the groundwork for psychology as a distinct scientific discipline. His major breakthrough came in 1874 when he published Principles of Physiological Psychology. It was in this book that Wundt summarized his ideas on the connections of physiology and psychology. Wundts work influenced many young minds and opened the doors to many new ideas in psychology.
Edward B.
Titchener, who became one of Wundts most employ students, earned his doctorate in psychology under Wundt and posterior developed his own approach to the subject called, structuralism. Titchener believed that the most Byzantine conscious experiences could be broken down in to elementary structures, or component parts, of sensations and feelings. (Hockenbury) I feel that structuralism is a flawed theory because not every person deals with experiences the equivalent way. Attempting to break down a persons thoughts or feelings on a particular experience would probably vary based on the type of person they are. Every person sees things in their own perspective. I think it would take an in depth look at some ones character in the first place analyzing how they react to certain experiences...If you want to get a teeming essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
