G break offer talk was a book that opened my look to an entirely new world of struggle that many African American women face every single day. Growing up in an Indian family, I can understand whatsoever of the papers and values behind the patriarchal family and the idea that the father is normally right. However, like the women in the book, my family was a little different in that my father cooked, cleaned, and took my sister and I shopping, and would treat my mother to awe vacations or spa days. Unfortunately, like the black society, I write out of Indian families that have abusive males and know that it is considered bad to crease dirty laundry out to world. However, to see the level of non only physical abuse but also psychological abuse that the various women took was eye opening. I never realized how complicated and intricate a community could be, down to the detail that a Supreme Court judge can infraction an intern and still have the support of the community. The editors of this work provided the base by showing different examples of how women are mistreated, and how it seems to be roughly the norm in the community. It also ties together how this appears to be a vicious cycle going on: fathers abuse wives and daughters, sons take in that and sons later abuse their spouses.
They also drew in the idea that this not only has an impact on the women in the community but also on the family life, especially the children, many who end up living in poverty and not get a proper education or going to jail. The editors created a foundation that draws the reader in with examples that could really be natural event to anyone that readers know, and makes the readers think about their own personal gender inequality. This seems to be a very interesting and effective way to knock off the reader into reading more, and finding out about what else influences the feminine black community, from the men to the churches to schooling and even to the politics.
