It was for smallpox that the first successful vaccine was created. The process of vaccination was create by Edward Jenner in 1796, having noticed that people who had caught the similar variola vaccinia virus, were unaffected by the virus which had exceptionally high mortality rate (35% in some cases).
Edward Jenner was not the first somebody to realise this, many scientists had been talking about it years out front him. But Jenner was the first to successfully test this theory; the first vaccination was performed on James Phipps, an eight year ageing boy. Jenner injected him with the pus secreted from a victim of the cowpox virus. Phipps then came out in a fever, but no great contagion appeared. To fully test his vaccine, Jenner then injected Phipps with variolous material, and no disease followed. After doing this experiment twice, with no reaction, he effected that he was right, and Phipps was immune to the deadly smallpox virus. If you want to give-up the ghost a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
