After he comes out of the treatment center, he need to have a mentor or a progress family that cares about him and can teach him a different spirit. (Bad foster parents are a whole other sore spot.) If this child uses his determination not to go back, to be a good example for his brothers and sisters, and has a good role model to encourage and teach him, I moot he could turn his life around. He is only fourteen years old and has already been exposed to murder, violence, drugs, abuse, guns and things a lot of people never see other than in movies.

At first, he will fight it and try to geld but there are several alternative schools now that adapt their teaching styles to fit the child and the childs needs. There are schools that he could attend that would go at his pace and it probably wouldnt take him long to catch up to where other fourteen year olds are. I think giving him an education would give him a huge solidus of self esteem and pride and show him there is life out there that has a lot of good to offer. He has never been exposed to that and I would bet he would quickly embrace it.
