A third character is Heck Tate who shows courage by risking his job. Lastly, Link Deas is a man who risks his reputation by helping a man in need. These four characters show courage in different ways throughout the tale to support the theme.
Atticus Finch is a courageous man of Maycomb county. When a rabid hound stumbles into their neighborhood, Atticus comes across a bearing or death choice. He is given a flatulence to shoot it, risking not only his life but his neighbors lives as well. Atticus has one shot to blot out the rabid dog.
